Our focus is children’s health, education, and well-being. Through support of outstanding organizations that focus on children’s assessment, counseling, development, education, health, and nutrition, we hope to make a significant difference in West Michigan. This year, money raised at Rivertown Races will benefit several local organizations:
The BSHOP is a Christ-centered, urban ministry with an emphasis on discipling youth and renewing communities. Located in the heart of the West Side of Grand Rapids, the BSHOP serves youth from the under-resourced neighborhoods in the West Side, as well as young people outside of the city, helping them to understand the plight of the underprivaledged and how they can be agents of change in the world around them.
Ataxia Telangiectasia, (A.T. for short) is a rare genetic disease that attacks children, causing progressive loss of muscle control, immune system problems, and a high rate of cancer. A-T children are born perfectly healthy, but then have problems with their balance, muscle control, and immune systems. Children are often in wheelchairs by age 8. A-T research not only benefits children with A-T, but children who have immune problems, cancer, cystic fibrosis, and cerebral palsy

Starlight’s purpose is to provide a safe Christian environment for children and adults to express their grief, be able to find ways of coping with their grief, and then find Hope within their grief. This is achieved by participants sharing feelings, experiences and memories with peers in a support group setting. The death may have been recent or long ago.
